The new Delhi and Sydney services at Cam Ranh

Vietjet's direct Delhi–Cam Ranh service begins on 16 June 2026, with flights every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The route takes about 5 hours 20 minutes from Indira Gandhi International Airport to Cam Ranh International Airport. Introductory one-way fares start at 5,990,000 VND (around USD 235) all-inclusive; promotional batches are released through Vietjet's website and app.

Jetstar's Sydney–Cam Ranh route launches on 1 July 2026 and operates daily, with a flight time of roughly 8 hours 55 minutes. Sale fares are priced from AUD 299 one-way including taxes; the offer runs until 10 June 2026 for travel through November 2026. The daily frequency means travelers from Australia can choose any departure day without waiting for a specific weekday.

For both routes, the schedule and frequency are subject to Vietnamese government approval, so confirm the service is operating before booking connecting flights or ground transport. Cam Ranh's Terminal 2 handles both airlines, but gate assignments can change, especially around launch dates.

Terminal 2 and arrival process at Cam Ranh

Cam Ranh International Airport's expanded International Terminal T2 has been operational since late 2025, with a design capacity of 10 million passengers per year. The new Delhi–Cam Ranh and Sydney–Cam Ranh services both arrive and depart from T2 for now, but terminal assignments can shift—check the Cam Ranh airport website before you leave for the airport. Additional immigration counters have been opened specifically to handle the incoming Indian and Australian passengers, which helps reduce queues at peak times.

Plan to arrive at least 3 hours before any international departure. Security lines at CXR have grown noticeably longer since the T2 expansion, even on weekdays. If you're connecting to a domestic flight, the same terminal handles both, but you'll still need to clear immigration and re-check bags if your booking isn't through-ticketed.

After landing, ATMs are located immediately after customs, so you can withdraw Vietnamese dong before exiting the secure area. For ground transport, use the official taxi counter inside the terminal rather than accepting rides from touts. Pre-booked taxis to Nha Trang city cost 380,000–450,000 VND (USD 15–18); shared shuttle buses run 120,000 VND (USD 5) and take about 40 minutes.

Getting from Cam Ranh to Nha Trang

Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) sits roughly 30 km south of Nha Trang city, a drive of 40–45 minutes along the coastal road. Pre-booked taxis from the airport to Nha Trang cost VND 380,000–450,000 (about USD 15–18) for a standard four-seat car; book through Mai Linh, Vinasun, or your hotel before landing to lock in the fare. Metered taxis are also available at the terminal's official taxi counter in the arrivals hall, but confirm the rate card before getting in—drivers should use the meter rather than a flat quote.

If you're traveling solo or on a tighter budget, the shared shuttle bus costs VND 120,000 (USD 5) per person and takes around 40 minutes, with drop-offs at major hotels and the Tran Phu beach strip. Buy tickets at the airport's official shuttle counter after clearing customs, not from individuals approaching you in the terminal; unlicensed touts often quote double or triple the official price and may use unmetered cars. For both taxis and shuttles, have small VND notes ready, as drivers rarely carry change for large denominations. ATMs are available immediately after customs if you arrive without dong.

Vietnam e-visa for Indian and Australian citizens

Indian and Australian citizens can apply for Vietnam's 90-day multiple-entry e-visa entirely online at evisa.gov.vn. The fee is USD 25 for single-entry or USD 50 for multiple-entry, paid by card during the application. Processing normally takes 3–5 working days, but during school holidays or peak arrival periods it can stretch to two weeks. Apply no later than 14 days before departure; the one action to take immediately after booking your flight is to start the e-visa application with your passport details and entry/exit dates.

Australians should note that visa-free entry is not available for Australian passports — only the e-visa or a visa obtained from a Vietnamese embassy is valid for travel. For both nationalities, the e-visa is accepted at Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR), including the new Vietjet Delhi–Cam Ranh and Jetstar Sydney–Cam Ranh routes. Use only the official e-visa portal; third-party visa agencies often charge double or triple the official fee and cannot speed up processing. Pay the correct fee upfront, download the PDF approval letter, and carry a printed copy plus your passport when you board — airlines check it at check-in.

Baggage and add-on fees on Vietjet and Jetstar

Jetstar's carry-on limit on the new Sydney–Cam Ranh route is 7 kg, and gate agents weigh cabin bags at both Sydney and Cam Ranh. If your bag exceeds the limit, the airport fee can be AUD 75 or more, far above the AUD 45 you pay to add a 20 kg checked bag during booking. Vietjet's Delhi–Cam Ranh Promo fares often exclude any checked luggage; pre-booking a 20 kg bag costs VND 350,000 (about USD 14), while paying at the airport can be VND 500,000 or higher depending on the route.

Add bags while booking on both airlines. Jetstar charges per flight segment, and adding extra weight later is treated as a new purchase at current rates. Vietjet's website and app let you add checked luggage up to 40 kg at the pre-paid rate; the counter price after check-in is always the worst option.

Promotional date changes are another penalty trap. On Jetstar Starter fares, a date change costs about AUD 75 per passenger per flight plus any fare difference. Vietjet's Promo and Eco tickets typically charge VND 600,000 or more per change plus the fare difference, which can exceed the original ticket cost. Read the fare rules before booking, and if you might change dates, compare the total price of a flexible fare class instead.

Weather, currency, and practical arrival tips

July in Nha Trang runs 28–35°C, sunny and hot with occasional afternoon showers. Pack light cotton clothing, high-SPF sunscreen, and a small waterproof layer; the showers rarely last more than an hour but can arrive without much warning. The currency is Vietnam dong (VND). Card payments are common in Nha Trang's hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets, but street vendors, local markets, and small taxis still prefer cash. ATMs are available immediately after customs at Cam Ranh's Terminal 2, so withdraw a few hundred thousand dong before leaving the airport.

For the 40-minute transfer into Nha Trang, pre-booked taxis cost 380,000–450,000 VND (about 15–18 USD); shared shuttle buses cost around 120,000 VND and leave from the official counter. Both Vietjet's Delhi–Cam Ranh flights and Jetstar's Sydney–Cam Ranh flights use Terminal 2, but terminal assignments can change—check the airport's Facebook page (facebook.com/CamRanhAirport) for real-time gate and disruption updates. On the way back, arrive at least 3 hours before international departure; security queues at CXR have lengthened since the T2 expansion.
