Moc Chau plum season
Northern Vietnam · April – May
White plum blossoms give way to ripe fruit across Moc Chau's orchards — a short, sweet window in late spring.
About this event
What happens
Moc Chau plum season takes place in the highlands of Son La Province, usually from late spring to early summer. The hills around Moc Chau town are covered with white plum blossoms, and later, trees heavy with ripe, red plums. Local markets and orchards become lively with harvesting activities.
What people do
Visitors can join local farmers in picking plums at orchards such as Na Ka Valley and Phieng Khoang. Many people take scenic walks or bike rides through the blooming hills and take photos among the blossoms. Sampling fresh plums and buying them directly from growers is a popular activity.
Practical tips
Wear comfortable shoes and sun protection, as most orchards require walking on uneven ground. Early mornings are less crowded and offer better light for photography. Local guesthouses in Moc Chau town can help arrange orchard visits and transportation.
