Sapa Saturday Love Market
Northern Vietnam · January – December
Hill-tribe communities gather every Saturday night in Sapa for music, courtship traditions, and handicraft stalls.

About this event
The tradition
The love market is an old courtship custom of the H'Mong, Dao, and other hill-tribe groups. On Saturday nights in Sapa town, young people meet, sing, and play traditional instruments such as the khen — a bamboo mouth organ — while elders trade goods and stories.
When to go
The market runs most Saturday evenings year-round, starting after dark in Sapa's central square. Winter evenings are cold and atmospheric; summer nights are lively with music. Sunday mornings continue with a bigger day market.
Visitor tips
Arrive by 8pm for the best atmosphere. Ask before photographing people — a small purchase from a stall is a friendly way to show respect. Bring cash and warm layers, and pair the visit with a homestay trek the next day.
